THE LAW IS OUR FRIEND. Excited for you to follow and engage
"A contract is simple enough to be written and signed by both parties to protect their interests." -S.4 of the Statute of Frauds
Stop with, "I believe you", "I trust you", "You have my word"...etc.
As simple as, CONTRACT OF SALE OF SHOES BETWEEN MR. A AND MR. B
"I, Mr. A of Ikeja, Lagos, have agreed to sell my pair of shoes for N20,000 to Mr. B of Abuja, F.C.T, today 6th April 2026 and Mr. B has paid me the N20,000 in cash to buy the pair of shoes while Mr. A has given Mr. B the pair of shoes.
Signed by Mr.A.
Signed by Mr. B."
.. tomorrow, if Mr. B denies receiving any pair of shoes or Mr. A denies receiving any money, any or both of them can carry this contract of barely 10 lines to a court of law in Nigeria and their rights will be protected.
Now, who can list the reasons why this contract is valid in law? Drop your answers as we look to discuss more legal matters in coming episodes.
