Summer Holiday Parenting Tips for Young Mums and FIRST TIME TODDLER MUMS
1. Create a Flexible Routine
While it's a break from school, children still thrive on structure. Set a light daily schedule with time for rest, play, learning, and prayer.
Children find peace in predictability. A simple routine reduces tantrums and boredom.
2. Make Learning Fun
Introduce home learning through games, storytelling, simple chores, and faith-based lessons.
Example: Teach reading using Bible stories or create a fun âletter of the weekâ activity.
3. Encourage Creativity
Set up a creativity corner with crayons, paper, clay, or even recycled items. Let their imaginations run wild!
Creativity boosts confidence and problem-solving â two things wise children grow with.
4. Spend One-on-One Time
Even 15â30 minutes of intentional connection daily can strengthen the bond. Read together, talk about feelings, or go on a walk.
This builds trust and security â which is the foundation of raising emotionally intelligent children.
5. Include God in the Holidays
Set time for devotionals, scripture memorization and recitation or songs about Jesus. Let them know fun and faith go together!
âTrain up a child in the way he should goâŚâ (Proverbs 22:6).
6. Teach Responsibility Through Chores
Even toddlers can learn to tidy their toys or help set the table. Turn chores into games!
Responsibility starts at home. Wise mums raise children who can serve with joy.
7. Expose Them to Real Life
Take them along for simple errands, property visits (for real estate mums!), or community events. Teach them how the world works.
Life is the best classroom , so let them watch and learn from you.
8. Take Care of Yourself Too
A well-rested mum is a wise mum. Carve out moments for your spiritual renewal, rest, and self-love.
You canât pour from an empty cup. Make time for you and eat well too .
