Yesterday,
I joined my sisters from Voice of the Ijaw girl child iniative on a mensural health campaign in commemoration of the World Mensural Health Day, in Aleibiri Community, Ekeremo Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
It was a great privilege to learn and impact knowledge on women, young ladies and girls.
Following topics provided by the organizers, very dignified daughters of the izon nation stressed on different topics including the overall meaning of mensuration, Mensural health & hygiene and self care among others.

My conversation centered on “Rights, Advocacy and Breaking the Silence”.
Here we talked about why women should not be stigmatized because they encounter “a natural, God-given gift which allows them to wholly walk into womanhood”.
We also stressed on rights to school, menstrual health education, the importance of advocacy for good menstrual health education and hygiene, and finally concluded with tips on staying safe and healthy during this period.

The program was a massive success as we registered a good number of women and girls who were also appreciated with sanitary pads and snacks after the event.

Aleibiri was a beautiful experience and I appreciate the organizers, Of The Ijaw Girlchild For the opportunity to be part of it.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: MANAGEMENT TEAM (SKILL US UP INITIATIVE 2.0)

*Team DSA*, the management body for the Skill Us Up Initiative, is officially inviting applications from qualified and motivated individuals for the following Paid Volunteer positions.
These roles are critical to the successful ex*****on of the upcoming *Skill Us Up Initiative 2.0*, scheduled for *June 2026*.

Selected candidates will join the core management team to anchor, coordinate, and oversee the end-to-end delivery of the project.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Monthly Stipend: ₦50,000.00
• Incentives: Comprehensive transportation and data allowances provided.

OPEN POSITIONS
1. Assistant Program Coordinator (Assistant Team Lead)
Role Objective: To provide strategic support to the Team Lead in ensuring the operational success and realization of the program’s vision.
Key Responsibilities:
~ Assist in the strategic planning and design of the program structure.
~ Coordinate project activities, ensuring strict adherence to established timelines.
~ Liaise with key stakeholders, community partners, and external collaborators.
~ Monitor project milestones and provide progress reports to ensure goals are achieved.

2. Training & Skills Facilitator (Technical Lead)
Role Objective: To serve as the primary knowledge provider and curriculum developer for the initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
~ Meet with, discuss and ensure that facilitators of each skill set deliver high-impact training sessions for participants
~ Develop comprehensive training materials and specialized curricula.
~ Evaluate participant performance and track overall learning progress.
~ Provide professional mentorship and guidance to participants throughout the program.
(NB: Applicants for this role should be grounded in education, human resource management or human psychology)

3. Mobilization & Communications Officer (PR/Outreach Lead)
Role Objective: To serve as the official voice of the program and lead community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
~ Identify and engage stakeholders to secure participation and institutional support.
~ Lead all publicity efforts, including graphic designs, social media management, press releases, and local announcements.
~ Strategically mobilize youth participation within the target communities.
~ Manage community feedback channels and maintain a positive public image for the initiative.

Very nice

Today marks a great moment in Bayelsa State, one that will forever remain in the hearts of Bayelsans and generations to come.
Bayelsa proudly welcomes the President of Nigeria to commission a legacy that our dear governor has not only built as a physical structure, but has also etched in our hearts as a symbol of progress, hope, and prosperity.

On this note, I join the good people of Bayelsa State and Yelga Constituency II to appreciate our Miracle Governor of the Assured Prosperity Government, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri.
Sir, the 60MW Gas Turbines Independent Power Plant at Elebele is not just a long-awaited legacy project, but one that will drive industrialization, create employment opportunities, boost small and medium-scale enterprises, enhance energy security, attract investors, and improve the overall standard of living in the state.
What is a government without one that provides the basic needs of its people?
Your Excellency, my dear governor and leader, you have gone beyond providing our basic needs by giving us the opportunity to live and thrive comfortably.

I also deeply appreciate you for the two major projects within Yelga Constituency II that directly benefit my people; the Sabagria/Polaku Bridge Road and the dualised New Yenagoa City Link Road through Gbarantoru.
These projects have improved access to riverine communities, eased transportation, boosted local trade and agriculture, reduced travel time, and strengthened unity and economic integration among the Gbarain and Ekpetiama people.

Your Excellency, your legacy is visible, impactful, and enduring. On behalf of the people of Yelga Constituency II, I express our heartfelt gratitude and continued support for your administration.
