Fellow Nigerians, and particularly the good people of Akoko Edo, my constituent family in Edo State, Good morning.
Today is not just another date on the calendar. Democracy Day is a living testament to our collective will the will to be free, to choose our leaders, and to hold power accountable. We remember the sacrifices of the heroes of our nascent democracy, those who stood in the rain, in the sun, and under the shadow of oppression so that we could cast our votes and speak our minds without fear. Democracy is not about the politicians. It is about you the mother who wakes up early to send her child to school, the youth learning a skill against all odds, the farmer planting seeds in hope of harvest. Yes, our journey is tough. The roads are long, the lights flicker, and the patience of millions is tested daily. But never forget: every great nation was built by people who refused to give up on tomorrow. So let this Democracy Day remind us: Power belongs to the people. Demand accountability. Stay informed….
