I’m now a Chartered Banker. Thank you
Left to me, one photo and this one line would have been enough. But this post is really about my mum.
Yesterday, as she walked into the hall during my induction, I told myself, “Mabel, you better pay attention to these presentations because your mum will definitely discuss them later.”
And true to form… she did.
The moment I got my certificate, she reminded me about the Association of Professional Women Bankers that was mentioned during the program and told me to go and find the woman who spoke about it. I actually went looking for her. I didn’t find her. I have joined the association online o. My mum does not joke with opportunities.
On our way home, she casually brought up one of the speakers and the point he made about fast customer service. In my mind I just thought, “Thank God I listened well o.”
Today is Mothering Sunday, and I am deeply grateful for my mother. She has been fully present in my life for as long as I can remember. Always showing up. Always looking out for opportunities. Always pushing me forward.
My mum's rhythm is simple: achieve, celebrate, next achievement.
At this point, I have accepted my fate. With this kind of mother, it looks like I will be collecting certificates till I die, and honestly, I’m not complaining.
Yesterday I realized just how deeply she has ingrained lifelong learning in me. While I was still holding my certificate and taking pictures, my mum had already moved to the next step in her mind. Networking. Connecting. Asking questions. Making sure her daughter is positioned well.
That’s just who she is.
Thank you, Aduke. God bless you. You will not suffer, and you will see the full harvest of every prayer you have prayed over my life. Happy Mothering Sunday to you!
And yes… happy induction to me too.
I walk confidently in the direction of my dreams because the Lord is with me.
Grateful for the milestone, and even more excited for the journey ahead in banking, infrastructure finance, and building things that truly last.
p. s my mum bought my shoes. 😁
