The Delta State Economic & Investment Summit 2026, held in Asaba from August 3–5, 2026, was primarily about attracting investment into Delta State and turning the state’s natural, human and economic resources into sustainable businesses, jobs and development. Its theme was “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potential.”
In simple terms, the summit was about:
Attracting local and foreign investors into Delta State.
Industrialisation and economic diversification, especially reducing dependence on oil.
Agriculture and agribusiness — including palm oil, cassava, rice, livestock and poultry.
Energy and power — oil and gas, electricity and renewable energy.
Blue economy and transportation — Delta's coastline, ports, waterways and related infrastructure.
 Solid minerals and mining.
 Digital economy, technology and innovation.
 Tourism, hospitality and creative industries.
Infrastructure development, including roads, bridges and public facilities.
Public-private partnerships to bring more capital and businesses into the state.
One very important outcome
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced that Delta State had earmarked $100 million (about ₦173 billion) as viability-gap funding to help de-risk viable investments and make the state more attractive to investors.
For someone in real estate, this summit is particularly significant because increased investment in industries, infrastructure, transportation, ports, agriculture, energy and special economic zones can create new business corridors, employment centres and demand for housing and land.
So, in one sentence: the summit was essentially Delta State telling investors, “Come and invest in Delta; we have the resources, opportunities and government support to help your investments grow.”
