A week ago…. It was a pleasure and very rewarding experience to guide the SIWES Students and Staff of the Architectural Services Department, Ministry of Lands, Calabar led by the Head of Department, Arc. Dr. Ebri Okon, MNIA through our Project Site; Axari Towers and Entertainment Complex, a mixed-use commercial development, Comprising a 14 floor Hotel block, Conference facilities, Shopping Mall with a 4 Screen Cinema and other recreational and leisure facilities in the heart of Calabar.

Mentorship is key to the growth of Architecture and has proven to be a valuable tool in bridging the gap between knowledge and skills gained in school and Practical Knowledge and Skills learned in the field. What is remarkable about the project is the Afrocentric design and the use of a wholly-Nigerian team right from conception, to Design, Construction and Project Management.

Victor Edet Okon is grateful to be a part of the project team and happy to impart the knowledge I’ve learned and garnered over the year to the next generation of Architects.
