In what counts to be part of my last assignment in office as Governor Matawalle's aide on Markets Development and Management, I paid a supervisory visit to the Broad Band project in Gusau Central Market, a project being executed by the State Government in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

The project awarded to Bravura Technologies limited when completed would go along way in enhancing the cashless policy of the Federal Government.

The project would avail micro and small business operators with opportunity to access free internet data to aid their online business transactions.

So far, the project is ready for commissioning.

We applaud the efforts of HE Dr Bello Muh’d Mutawallen Maradun, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, DG ZITDA Zamfara State Yahaya Muhammad Tambura for their collective and individual effort that make the project a reality.

It is our hope that traders would reciprocate this gesture by relocating to the market in order to tap fully the positive benefits of the service.

ZAMFARA MARKET DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT AGENCY WELCOMES SUPREME COURT VERDICT ON RE-DISIGNED NAIRA NOTES FG/CBN DEADLINE.

The Zamfara State Market Development and Management Agency has lauded the supreme court order restraining Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria from effecting the 10th February deadline for collection of old naira notes by the commercial banks.

The Agency equally hailed the courage by the Governors of Zamfara Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, Kaduna Malam Nasir El-Rufa'i and Kogi State Yahaya Bello in approaching the apex court over the decided policy.

"Governors of Zamfara, Kaduna and Kogi States have shown clear concern to the plight of Nigerian masses over the needles policy which subjected the country into untold hardship".

While we welcomed and saluted the timely feat secured at the court, we also tender our appeals as follows:

I. Federal Government and CBN shall review the cash swap policy to fashion out a better implementation approach and timeline that provides enough currency notes (Both old and new naira notes) to meet citizens financial needs.

II. Federal Government and CBN shall prioritize public welfare and restore economic activities touched by the naira swap implementation policy.

III. Make citizens adequately understand the long term benefits of the policy through rigorous enlightenment and sensitization.

IV. Citizens should adhere to the provisions of the law while pursuing their rights and not to see the hardship as an avenue of engageging into unwholesome acts such as government and private facilities vandalisation.

V. Financial transaction channels should not see the situation as a way of subjecting masses into hardship.

DIRECTLY FROM THE NEW MARKET LOCATED NEAR THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE STATE WHERE THE TEAM OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA (CBN) IS CONTINUING TO CHANGE THE BUSINESSMEN'S CURRENCIES TO NEW.

Today, the team of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Zamfara State Branch, under the leadership of Controller Buhari Abbas, are continuing to convert their money market members as they started yesterday.

This is how this work of currency exchange is being carried out in the meeting room in the main market under the supervision of the Special Adviser to the governor in the administration of Hon Suleiman Usman Zumunchi.

The Adviser to the Governor of the Zamfara State Markets Development & Management Agency Hon Suleiman Usman Zumunchi, welcomed them and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Zamfara State Government for the work they have done to make it easier for small traders and requested them to extend to some other Markets across the State.

Engagement with Mr. Buhari Abbas, Controller
Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, Gusau Branch and his team was part of our Agency's activity conducted during the week under review.

The visit by the CBN's team was to Sensitize traders and business operators on the new redisigned naira notes policy; 31st January 2023 deadline for phasing out the old naira notes and need on traders to hasten depositing the old naira notes in the banks or financial transaction channels.

Some of our responses centered on the need for CBN to stock the commercial banks with enough new naira notes.

Commercial Banks should equally consider maintaining enough new naira notes in their ATM machines and provide enough to POS operators.

The Honourable Special Adviser Of the Agency Hon Suleiman Usman Zumunchi lauded the effort of Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle Maradun for making business development as his administration's priority.

State Coordinator NOA Aminu Ibrahim also made presentation.

Various trade associations and business operators' groups attended the sensitization session held at Gusau Central Market.

The sensitization session featured questions and answers among participants.

It was attended by the Agency's Executive Secretary, Managing Director Gusau Central Market and representatives of bussiness groups.

Yesterday Tuesday the 17th of January, 2023,

The Honourable Special Adviser Alh. Suleiman Usman Zumunchi led the management team of the Market development and Management Agency to Yan Katako Market in Gusau the State capital on a sympathy visit over a fire inferno which gutted some portion of the market.

Recalled that, earlier Tuesday morning some portion of Yankatako market in Gusau LGA was gutted by fire outbreak the situation which resulted to loss of timber stock. It was learnt that the fire was controlled by the men of fire fighting department.

The Honourable Special Adviser commend the effort of the men of fire fighting department and good Samaritan who aided in controlling the fire"

On the visit, the Honourable Special Adviser sympathized with victims of the disaster and prayed for Allah's intervention against future occurrences of the incident.

The Honourable Special Adviser equally prayed Allah to replace what what was lost as a result of the disaster.

They were received by the leadership of the market chaired by Alhaji Ibrahim Maikatako where he appreciated the foresight of paying such visit.

The Honourable Special Adviser was accompanied by Executive Secretary of the Agency Malam Nasiru Muhammad Kauran Namoda, MD of Gusau Central Market, Directors and staff of the Agency.

Zamfara State Market Development and Management Agency under my watch as Hon. Special Adviser has today toured Kaura Namada LGA.

During the visit, we were able to have an interface with HRH Emir of Kaura Namada Dr. Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha and The Council Sole Administrator Hon. Nasiru Altine Yak**ata.

Part of what took the centre stage of the visit was how Government would key in to give facelift to market facilities in the area through upgrade, repair and reconstruction.

Recalled that the State Governor H.E Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun has received the community's request through the Emir on the need to come to the aid of the market.

We intimated the duo parties on how we operate and our readiness to support facility development capable of waxing State IGR and creating employment opportunities among people in the State.

Some of the recommendations by the Emir and Council Sole Administrator dwelled on the need to employ developers or involving reputable financial institutions to support the task.

Both of them assured determination to support the crusade to facilitate better Zamfara State.

ZAMFARA MARKET DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT AGENCY UPDATE.

As part of Responsibilities of Zamfara Market Development and Management Agency towards improving revenue of the State, we received the leadership of Akits Computer Nig. Ltd headed by Aminu Abdullahi and Head of Enforcement Unit of the State Internal Revenue Service Surajo Isah Marcury in our office today.

The central idea of our interface was to ensure traders in Gusau Central Market complied with the State tax laws and to see how revenues collectible in the market are remmited to the consolidated revenue account of the State.

It is to this end that we urge all traders operating in the market to give maximum corporations to the company entrusted with the task of collections of shops rent taxes to enable the State Government continued with the laudable projects earlier started. Market rehabilitations is the evidence of how Government utilizes the revenue collected.

The Agency's ES, MD Central Market and other Directors were in attendance.
