The Oyo State Government, on Tuesday, urged the state high court in Ibadan not to grant bail to the ex-queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Shilekunola, Hamzat Oriyomi, and a school principal, Fasasi Abdullah

The court had on December 24 remanded the trio in prison over the death of 35 children during a Christmas Funfair they organised in Ibadan, which resulted in a fatal stampede.

The defendants spent both Christmas and New Year’s Day at the Nigerian Correctional Services facility in Agodi.

During Tuesday’s hearing at High Court 8, Ring Road, Ibadan, the defence counsel urged the court to admit them to bail but the Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abiodun Aikomo, opposed the bail requests, insisting that the applicants had not shown sufficient grounds for their release.

“The bail request of the applicants must not be granted by the court,” Aikomo stated. He also countered claims of persecution by the state government, describing them as unfounded.

Earlier, the defence counsel argued that their client’s detention was unconstitutional, citing procedural irregularities and challenging the court’s jurisdiction.

They maintained that the “holding charge” used to remand the suspects was not recognised under Nigeria’s Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

Waheed Olajide, representing Fasasi Abdulahi, principal of Islamic High School, Basorun, argued that the detention was unjustified.

“No formal charge is preferred against the applicant before any court of competent jurisdiction,” Olajide said.

He further emphasised Abdulahi’s poor health condition, stating, “The law makes provision for exceptional circumstances, which include ill health, upon which the suspects can be released on bail. The applicant is battling with his health and needs to be taken care of medically.”

Silekunola’s lawyer, Musibau Adetunmbi (SAN), described her continued detention as unconstitutional.

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has granted an interview about her life and how she was violated as a woman.

In an interview with her colleague Biola Bayo on her show, Iyabo Ojo talked candidly about her life and upbringing.

She listed the instances in which she had been r***d as a woman and the individuals she was unwilling to forgive for their treatment of her.

In the video, the actress also discussed her daughter and her partner and the reasons she blessed their relationship.

The movie star, who wrote a memo to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka Verydarkman, was a guest on Biola Bayo’s podcast, Talk to B. According to her, she was forcefully slept with five times.

Speaking about Naira Marley and late Mohbad’s case, Ojo said that she has never met Naira Marley before.

She mentioned that Mohbad’s father said he needed a DNA test and that Wunmi has agreed to do one, however, Mohbad’s father also has his condition attached to it.

Also speaking about her colleague, Lizzy Anjorin, she claimed Anjorin accused her of having a hand in late Mohbad’s death.

Ojo also disclosed that she has dragged her to court, and she was not ready to settle out of court. She added that someone was trying to ensure the case was settled amicably, but for her, 2025 was a year of fight to finish.

The moviemaker, who gave her son-in-law to be a gift, gushed over the young man. He said that he was well raised, which was why she blessed his relationship with her daughter.

She noted that the two will soon get married but didn’t disclose the date and month it will take place.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye, a 61-year-old Lagos socialite and alleged drug kingpin, for her involvement in large-scale drug trafficking.

The arrest took place on New Year’s Day at her mansion on Adebayo Oyewole Street, off Ago Palace Way in Okota, Lagos.

Alhaja Aishat Feyisara’s arrest followed the interception of a truckload of illicit drugs being transported by her staff member.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed that Alhaja Feyisara, who is also a filmmaker, has been on the agency’s wanted list for her role as the leader of drug cartels operating out of the Mushin area of Lagos.

Known within the drug underworld as “Iya Ruka” and referred to as “Alhaja Ajoke” in her social circles, she had managed to conceal her identity for years while evading capture.

Her cover was blown when NDLEA operatives, acting on intelligence, intercepted a white Isuzu truck carrying 44 jumbo sacks containing 1,540 kilograms of imported cannabis.

The NDLEA spokesman said the truck was driven by one of her staff members, 41-year-old Abideen Adio.

He said that following the interception, NDLEA agents raided Alhaja Aishat Feyisara’s residence and arrested her.

Babafemi described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the agency’s fight against drug trafficking networks in Lagos.

The Baale of Orile- Oko, Remo North Local Government, Ogun State, Elijah Agboola has allegedly killed himself.

It was gathered that the Baale poisoned himself few months after ascending the throne over inability to fulfil promises he made to some people.

Agboola, according to sources close to the palace, was said to have received cars from different people, with the promise to allocate lands to them within the community.

However, he was unable to do so, a development that has become an embarrassment to his throne.

After his death, his son was said to have seized the monarch’s remains for days, which prevented the traditionalists to bury him.

But he was later arrested by the police while the body was also recovered for proper burial arrangements
