1 year ago (June 1, 2019).
Most people only see the success. A few see the struggle.
A year ago, I joined this amazing business. Was a newbie in the industry, but I know I need a major change in my life. I need a breakthrough.
I had to travel 6 hrs a day to do the business. I had only but money to spare for the bus and MRT fare, I was always excited. Never complained. Most days, I arrive home in Cavite at 3:00 am, I had to leave the house for a work in Malate at 5:30 am. I only slept in the busses. Praying I won’t go pass my stop. After work, I had to travel a few more hours to BGC for scheduled business meeting. After the business meetings. I slept again in busses, have to take at least 3 rides before I reach our house. The Manila traffic was eating the life out of all the faces of the people I see in the bus, but I still had the biggest smile, I know something amazing in gonna happen.
There was even a time, on our way home, when the vehicle we’re riding was hit by a 10-wheeler truck, and I reached home at 8:00 am, still, I showed-up to a scheduled meeting 10:00 am the same day, no sleep at all. I wore the same clothes I wore the previous day, did not even took a bath, but I had a bigger smile. I cannot waste a day. I had dreams, it kept me excited and awake the whole meeting, though my eyebags would disagree. I closed my first big deal that day.
Two months later, I was already earning, I have saved a few thousands. But it’s centavos compared to how much my colleagues we’re already achieving that time. So I took a big gamble. It’s the only money I had. I risked all my savings. I know I wanted to win big, so I knew I had to pay with hardwork, passion, and commitment.
I started traveling one city a day, all expense from my previous earnings and savings. I had to sleep on busses traversing one city at a time. Then it was not enough. I had to travel one country every week, then I traveled a country a day. I was taking baths at airports, and slept on planes. Once, I had a breakfast meeting in Thailand, then on the same day, had a dinner talk at Taiwan. It was very tiring. But I knew my dreams, they kept motivating me.
Business talks on different cities, provinces, and countries. My colleagues could attest, in some days, I had to eat only once a day because I had to do five different talks/ meetings on a single day. It was tiring. But I knew my dreams, they kept motivating me.
A year after, for the first time, because of this pandemic, I am forced to take a rest. If it were my choice, I’d probably continue grinding. It was a whole year of non-stop travels, talks, struggles, bashings, insults, doubts, uncertainties, milestones, and victories.
A year ago, sitting on the lobby of this condominium building in Forbes, BGC, all I had was 20 pesos in my pocket and some big ambitious dreams. A year later, I am a self-made multi-millionaire.
Don’t underestimate yourself. Don’t underestimate your dreams. You are born to win. You are born to succeed.
It’s hard, but it’s all worth it! 💪
