I stopped buying palm oil the day I made it a duty to always go back to my village.
If you see the palm oil I get from my family land, you go shock.
Some people think when they tell you “go back to your village” it’s a curse.
The truth is, for many of us, our wealth is actually tied to the village we just haven’t tapped it.
Land is expensive inside city, yes. But in rural areas and nearby villages, you can still see land for ₦500k ₦800k a plot.
Buy what you can afford, even if it’s one plot. If you have money, buy 5–10 plots.
Fence it to avoid encroachment.
Get good palm seedlings (Brazilian or Indonesian). Plant 25–30 per plot. With 10 plots, that’s around 250–300 trees.
While waiting for palm trees (4–5 years), You can plant cassava or plantain. Plantain gives you income in 12–18 months and keeps the land busy.
In 5 years, you will start smiling.
Of course you won’t “hammer overnight,” but you’ll never lack food, you’ll have steady income, and your children will inherit real wealth.
Farming is not without stress you need labour, care, and patience. But one thing I know is this: land and trees don’t lose value.
If you can’t buy in Abuja, come to Keffi.
This one is long-term investment, but you’ll come back with testimony.
If it’s not working for you in the city, there’s a good chance your real wealth is waiting in Keffi.”
