Buying a house or a car first, either of them is cool.

What you should be considering is if it'll be an asset or a liability.

As an asset, it'll be a money making machine for you while as a liability, it'll be draining the money you've already made.

Buying a car is cool but I'll advice that you should never buy a car with a loan. Buying a car, you should consider the one your money at the moment could buy. A car can be an asset to you through using it as an Uber, Taxi, etc or as a worker, business man/woman or a student, buying a car to ease you the stress of jumping on commercial buses or navigating the town whenever you want/ peace of mind is cool. But buying it because of show off or school reunion or to pepper them, is a really bad idea unless If you could sincerely afford it and not go hungry and also have lots of Investments.

For a house, I bet no first time home buyer, buys the house to stay there for his or her whole life. You'll always want a bigger one when the family is getting bigger or probably build a better one.
So, you maintaining a home bearing in mind to sell it off when you're done living there is a good long term investment.
