2024 - 2025 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL THEME
Rotary International typically announces a new theme each year, selected by the incoming Rotary International President. The theme is meant to provide focus and direction for Rotary clubs worldwide. It's usually revealed at the Rotary International Assembly, held in January in preparation for a new Rotary year which begins on July 1st.
Percy C. Hodgson, Rotary's president in 1949-50, is credited with initiating the tradition of formulating an annual theme. During his address at the 1949 International Assembly, Hodgson emphasized the crucial role of imparting Rotary knowledge to incoming leaders, stating that a lack of such knowledge could hinder a Rotary club's success. His theme, comprising 83 words and four objectives, was lengthier compared to modern concise themes. Nonetheless, it reflected his aspiration for incoming leaders to possess fundamental Rotary knowledge.
In more recent times Rotary themes have included "Rotary Connects the World (2019-2020)," "Rotary, opens Opportunities (2020-2021)" Serve to Change Lives (2021 -2022)", "Imagine Rotary" (2022-2023) and currently "Create Hope in the World" (2023-2024).
To continue the tradition, yesterday at the International Assembly, the Incoming Rotary International President (2024-2025), Stephanie A. Urchick unveiled "The Magic of Rotary". She says "Members create that magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member of Rotary."
I therefore welcome you to the world of Rotary and urge you to reflect on the impact the organization has made/making in over a century of its existence, knowing that every Dollar, donated; every project completed, and every member recruited helps in creating the magical transformation we see. (The End Polio Now story is one of that magic).
