Africa is a continent blessed with immense natural wealth.
But sometimes… that wealth becomes a curse.

In the southern region of Nigeria lies the Niger Delta — a land filled with rivers, mangroves, and one of the largest oil reserves in the world.

For decades, billions of dollars have been extracted from this land by companies like Shell, Chevron, and ExxonMobil.

Yet, the people who live there remain among the poorest.

Their rivers are polluted.
Their farmlands destroyed.
Their air filled with toxic gas flares.

Fishing… once their way of life… is disappearing.
Farming… has become nearly impossible.

In the 1990s, a man named Ken Saro-Wiwa stood up to speak for the people.

He demanded justice.
He demanded environmental protection.
He demanded that the people benefit from their own resources.

But in 1995… he was executed.

That moment changed everything.

Hope for peaceful protest began to fade.
Anger began to rise.

And in the shadows of the Niger Delta… something new was forming.

A resistance.

A movement.

A fight that would soon shake Nigeria’s oil industry.

This is not just a story about oil.
It is a story about power… injustice… and survival.

Welcome to Shadows of Africa.

Stories they tried to hide.
