“Mummy, I don’t want to buy land. I just want to rent.”
That was Amaka’s response every time her mother mentioned property.
“Mummy, please. I have bills. I have responsibilities. Let me breathe first.” 😩
Her mother would simply smile.
“Okay, my daughter. No problem.”
Fast-forward a few years… 👀
Amaka was still paying rent.
New landlord.
New rent increase.
New agreement fee.
New “please pay before month-end.” 😭😂
One evening, she called her mother.
“Mummy… remember that land you were telling me about?”
“Yes, my daughter.”
“How much is it now?”
Her mother went quiet.
“Amaka… why are you asking?”
“Just tell me!”
“It’s now almost three times what it was when I told you.”
Silence. 😭
Then Amaka said:
“Mummy, please don’t talk to me again. I need to process my life.” 😂😭
The truth?
Sometimes, it’s not that you can’t afford it.
You just keep waiting for the perfect time.
But property doesn’t always wait with you.
Start where you can. Plan wisely. Verify properly. And when an opportunity makes sense, don’t let procrastination make the decision for you.
