10 Cursed Women
From the ways to differentiate a minor from a major sin is that it (a major sin) has a hadd (legislated) punishment attached to it (like Zina and murder) or that the Rasul peace be upon him, mentions that whoever does them is cursed. The followings are actions done by women that the Rasul peace be upon him has cursed those who do it or do it for others.
1. An-Nāmisah wal Mutanammisah
This is the woman that plucks (shaves or reduces) her eyebrows or adds to it, as well as the one that does it for others.
2. Al-Mutafallijāt (lil hasan)
These are women that file their teeth to create a space in between (what we call open teeth) solely for the sake of beautification and not due to a health need or medical recommendation.
3. Al-Wāshimah wal-Mustawshimah
These are women that get tattos done on their skins or do it for others.
4. An-Nāihah
The one who wails over the dead, raising her voice screaming and saying inappropriate or incomprehensible things.
5. As-ṣaliqah
The one who raises her voice (wailing) over a calamity or an affliction
Note: crying over the death of a loved one or calamity is natural and permissible. What is impermissible is wailing, raising your voice and saying inappropriate things, sometimes heavy words of disbelief like "God why me?" (Are you questioning Allāh) or "this is not fair" (Allāh is not fair?), and the likes.
6. Al-Hāliqah and Al-Shāqqah
Hāliqah is the woman who shaves her hair due to a calamity that befell her while Shāqah is the wiman that tears her clothings due to a calamity.
7. Al-Wāsilah wal Mustawsilah
Wāsilah is the woman that elongates her hair using hair extensions while mutawāsilah is the one that does it for others.
8. Al-Mutarrajjilāt
These are women who immitate men (in appearance). This also applies to men who immitate women (Al-Mukhannitheen). It is therefore not permissible for a woman to wear men clothings and vice versa unless it is a unisex clothing according to the people's customs.
9. Al-Mutabarrijāt
These are women who display their beauty and adornments to non mahrams rather than conceal it in a hijab. This includes those who wear revealing and tight fitting clothings (khasiaat, Alaariyāt) or walk around swaying their hips and body (māilāt mumilāt), and those who pile up their hair on their head like camel humps, all in the name of beautification. Such women arent just cursed, but they will not smell the fragrance of jannah.
While for the others I will withold their evidences until someone requests for it for the sake of brevity, I will mention the evidence for this since it is one of the greatest fitnah of women today.
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet ﷺ
said:
❝ There are two types of the people of Hell whom
I have not seen: men with whips like the tails of
cattle with which they strike the people, and
women who are clothed but naked, walking with
an enticing gait, with something like the humps of
camels on their heads. They will not enter
Paradise nor even smell its fragrance, and its
fragrance can be smelled from such and such a
distance. ❞.
(Saheeh Muslim)
10. An-Nāshizah
The woman who deserts her husband's bed when he is in need of her. The angels will keep cursing her until she returns to it.
May Allāh forgive our shortcomings and rectify our affairs.
