Had an incredible theory and partial practical lesson in personal safety from my old high school friend, turned client John at John Roberts. Inspired by over twenty years in martial arts and business, he’s created an incredible coaching business with roots in ancient philosophies around de-escalating conflict and being confident. Mainly theory based, our session involved him teaching us the main red flags to look for and how to protect ourselves and others while remaining calm. Today marks three years since I stepped out of marketing and into life as a full time real estate agent. I thought my time in the industry meant I knew the full reality of being an agent. But I’m pleased to have learnt a lot more about real estate, myself and life since then.

I’m grateful to be here thanks to some incredible people who believed in me from day one. And while I’m surrounded by agents who’ve been in this game for 30 years, three years feels like a victory that deserves celebration and reflection. Because at the crux of it, this career is about helping people in some of their most exciting and challenging times and you can’t be part of that without evolving yourself.

Is real estate this deep? I like to think so. It’s one of the few careers I can think of where your hard work isn’t guaranteed to result in anything. Where sometimes the only thing fuelling you is pure optimism things are going to get better, and that’s a lot like life.

It’s uncertain yet rewarding, and you only fail if you don’t show up and give it your all.
