As we reflect on the weeks past, our hearts remain full of love and gratitude for the outpouring of support following the loss of our dear friend and esteemed director, Pat Benson. Pat’s departure has left an indelible void in our lives and in the heart of the Benson family and the wider Hawkes Bay community he so dearly cherished.
Pat was much more than a visionary in the business world; he was a local hero whose spirit of generosity, love for sports, and dedication to philanthropy touched many lives. His journey from the humble beginnings in Wairoa to making significant marks as a Junior All Black, a distinguished swimmer, and an entrepreneurial force is a testament to a life lived with passion and resilience.
His legacy is not just in the success of his businesses but in the vibrant energy he invested in local clubs, the Heretaunga Swimming Club, OBK, and the Napier Art Deco Trust. And, just as importantly, in the preservation of our cherished landmarks. Pat's belief in being caretakers of our heritage has left a lasting impact on our community's cultural landscape.
We would also like to acknowledge the continued dedication and leadership of Jim and John Benson, who alongside Pat, have been the pillars of our company. Their unwavering commitment ensures that we remain steadfast in our mission and values, providing the same level of support and care to our tenants and partners as we always have.
Pat's spirit and the memories we shared continue to inspire and guide us. His vision, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in every life he touched will forever be remembered.
Let us continue to celebrate the remarkable life of William Patrick Bruce Benson—a true legend whose memory will always be a beacon of light in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Pat. Your legacy lives on in the countless lives you've touched and the community you loved so deeply.
