What an amazing day today—even if attendance at open homes remains very quiet.

That’s not unique to our local market. Across New Zealand, buyers are taking their time as we adjust to economic uncertainty, political manoeuvring and mixed messages about the fundamentals.

Premium homes are feeling this more than the mainstream market right now, which is normal at this stage of the cycle. However, when the upswing arrives, it is often premium, beach and lifestyle property that benefits most strongly.

My view is simple: housing demand ultimately comes down to the relationship between supply and genuine need—and New Zealand still needs more homes.

Periods of uncertainty create opportunity. For those with a long-term outlook and the ability to act, this may prove to be a very good time to invest.
