“The Mirror That Lied”
There was once a woman named Althea who always spoke about self-love.
Every day, she’d post quotes about being confident, powerful, and independent.
But behind her words was pride—because her kind of self-love meant believing she was better than everyone else.
When her friends shared their struggles, she’d secretly smile, whispering,
“Maybe they should try harder like me.”
She was only happy when others were down,
because that’s when she felt most lifted.
One day, she met an old woman at a small chapel.
The woman said softly,
“Child, the mirror you keep looking at only shows your face, not your heart.”
That night, Althea dreamed of standing in front of a mirror that no longer reflected her beauty—
instead, it showed the faces of those she hurt,
the friends she mocked,
and the moments she laughed at someone’s pain.
When she woke up, she cried for the first time not because she was weak,
but because she realized how far she’d fallen.
From then on, she changed.
Her posts became fewer but realer.
She smiled not to prove anything,
but to show kindness.
And for the first time, she finally understood—
God didn’t create her to shine alone. He created her to be a light that helps other rise, too.
