I could never have just one drink. Once I started, I rarely knew when to stop. I would black out, fall all over the place, and wake up the next day with no idea what I had said or done the night before.

What’s hardest for me to admit is who I became when I drank. I could be angry, reckless, hurtful, and completely unlike the person I knew myself to be when I was sober. I said things I didn’t mean, did things I regretted, and sometimes hurt people I cared about. There were parts of myself that I didn’t recognize.

For a long time, it would have been easier to say, “That wasn’t really me. That was the alcohol.” But that isn’t accountability.

The alcohol didn’t force me to keep drinking. I knew what happened when I drank too much. I had seen the consequences. I had woken up ashamed, confused, and full of regret—and yet I kept going back.

That’s the part I have to own.

I don’t believe I was a bad person. I believe I was making choices that brought out a version of myself I didn’t want to be, and I kept making those choices even after I knew where they could lead.

For me, getting sober isn’t about pretending that person never existed. It’s about being honest about who I became, taking responsibility for the harm I caused, and making sure I don’t keep choosing something that turns me into someone I don’t recognize.

I can’t change what I did when I was drinking. But I can choose who I am now.

One day, nobody will care what you drove, how much money you made, how many houses you owned, or how important you were.

You can build wealth. Chase success. Dream big.

Just don’t build your identity on things you can’t take with you.

Jesus said:

“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” — Mark 8:36

Build a great life. Build wealth. Leave an inheritance for generations.

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” — Proverbs 13:22

But never forget where the ability to build it came from.

“It is He who gives you power to get wealth.” — Deuteronomy 8:18

Build wealth with God at the centre of your life.

The best response to doubt is undeniable results.

People will question you when they can't see the vision.

They'll laugh when the idea looks crazy.

They'll doubt you when you're starting from nothing.

Let them.

You don't need to argue with anyone.

You don't need to explain every move.

Keep working.

Keep learning.

Keep improving.

Keep stacking small wins until they become impossible to ignore.

One day, the same people who questioned whether you could make it will wonder how you did it.

That's when you know the work spoke louder than your words ever could.
