Sa Pilipinas, ang utang hindi namamatay kasama ng tao; karaniwan nagiging pananagutan ito ng estate (mga naiwan mong ari-arian), at yung bahay/lot na naka-mortgage ay mananatiling collateral hanggang ma-settle.

Babayaran ng insurance ang outstanding balance (up to coverage)
