‘You will never find justice in a world where criminals make the rules.’
Thousands of protesters join "Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon Laban sa Korapsyon" (Flood in Luneta: Action Against Corruption) at Rizal Park in Manila on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Timed with the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law under Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the National Day of Protest brought together progressive groups, workers, youth, and citizens from various sectors.
Demonstrators marked the occasion by recalling the human rights abuses of the Marcos dictatorship, while also raising concerns over present-day issues under the Marcos Jr. administration, particularly alleged anomalies in multi-billion–peso flood control projects.
References were also made to the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign, with participants noting that injustice endures when accountability is absent.
Calls for transparency, accountability, and good governance framed the day’s protest. | via Christine Boton/The Philippine STAR
