“The goal isn’t to live deprived. The goal is to live free, with enough margin to enjoy today and enough wisdom to prepare for tomorrow.”
Nothing wrong with spending on wants. God isn’t against you enjoying good things. What becomes unhealthy is when wants start robbing you of what you need most: progress, peace, and savings.
The problem isn’t the latte, the weekend out, the new shoes, or that long-overdue family treat. The problem is when those “small” wants quietly pile up until your savings is the one that gets sacrificed every month.
So here’s a better way to live:
Save regularly, then spend guilt-free.
Pay yourself first. Set aside a portion the moment income comes in. Make savings automatic and non-negotiable. Because savings is not just a financial habit, it’s a form of stewardship.
And once you’ve saved? Enjoy what you earn.
Treat yourself. Bless your family. Celebrate milestones. Live with gratitude. Don’t punish yourself like you’re always catching up. You worked hard for that income, just make sure your future is working hard for you too.
Discipline without joy becomes legalism. Joy without discipline becomes regret.
The goal isn’t to live deprived. The goal is to live free, with enough margin to enjoy today and enough wisdom to prepare for tomorrow.
