In 2023, Taylor Swift made headlines for recognizing the people working behind the scenes of her massive Eras Tour. During the tour’s first U.S. leg, roughly 50 truck drivers who transported equipment from city to city reportedly received $100,000 bonuses each, in addition to their regular pay. The bonuses were part of more than $55 million Swift distributed to members of her touring crew at that stage, including dancers, musicians, production staff and other workers.
The gesture was especially notable because long-haul truck drivers play a crucial role in moving the enormous amount of equipment required for a stadium tour. A trucking company CEO involved with the tour said typical bonuses given to drivers by artists are usually around $5,000–$10,000, making Swift’s $100,000 payments exceptionally large. She also included handwritten thank-you letters with crew bonuses, adding a personal touch to the recognition.
