Ever wondered if your chick is a boy or a girl?

Here's one of the easiest ways to tell, just look at the wing feathers, also referred to as wing sexing!

🔵 MALE — One step curve shape wing. The feathers are all roughly the same length, giving the wing a single smooth curve.
🔴 FEMALE — Two step curve shape wing. The feathers have two distinct layers — longer and shorter ones alternating, giving the wing a two-step curve shape.

Best done within the first 3 days after hatching for the most accurate results!

Started with just a piece of land, some big dreams, and honestly… a whole lot of still-learning-as-we-go energy. 😄 But Mang Roger's Tabon Tabon Farm had a way of turning every muddy boot, every sun-burned afternoon, and every 'what are we even doing?' moments into something worth remembering.

Looking back at these photos now, I realize the farm didn't just grow tabon tabon, it grew us.

Not everything that grows on a farm needs water and sunlight. Sometimes it just needs a jigsaw and a little determination. 😄 Mang Rogers Farm: where every corner tells a story of hard work, gradual progress, and men who clearly can't sit still.

No rush, no noise. Mornings at Mang Roger’s Tabon-tabon Farm just feel different. You sit down with a warm cup in hand, the breeze lightly rustling through the coconut trees, and for a moment… everything slows down.

It’s the kind of morning that gently reminds you to pause, take a deep breath, and ease into the day.

Did you know that the use of tabon-tabon in Filipino cuisine dates back to the pre-colonial Philippines?

In the book, Kinilaw: A Philippine Cuisine of Freshness, co-authors Edilberto N. Alegre and the late food historian Doreen G. Fernandez highlight remarkable archaeological finds in the Balangay excavation sites of Butuan. Researchers discovered fish bones alongside remnants of the tabon-tabon fruit dating back to approximately 1200 A.D.

Magtanim ay 'di biro", and if you need proof, just look at these hardworking farmers at the rice paddies of Marapong, Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte. No air-conditioning, no shortcuts, just pure grit and muddy feet. The rice field is not just a workplace. It is where life begins and where character is built, bent backs under the sun, hands deep in the soil, hearts full of hope for the harvest. If "Magtanim ay 'di biro" was already hard enough and with fuel prices rising, is farming becoming not just difficult but impossible for the ordinary Filipino farmer to sustain?
