All leaves, no color? Here's why your bougainvillea won't bloom.
Bougainvillea is one of the most common ornamentals in Filipino gardens, and one of the most commonly misunderstood. If yours is all green and no pink, it's almost always one of these four reasons.

1. Too much water 💧
Bougainvillea blooms when slightly stressed. Daily watering keeps it lush but flowerless. Let the soil dry between waterings.

2. Too much nitrogen 🌱
General-purpose fertilizer feeds the leaves. Switch to a high-phosphorus mix (the middle number on the bag) to trigger blooming.

3. Not enough sun ☀️
Needs 6+ hours of direct sunlight. Partial shade gives you a healthy plant that refuses to flower.

4. Pruned at the wrong time ✂️
Bougainvillea blooms on new growth. Heavy pruning right before dry season kills the bloom cycle. Prune AFTER a flush, not before.
The plant isn't broken. It's just being honest about what it needs.
