As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Here is some important information regarding Jumu'ah (Friday):
1. Meaning and Importance of Jumu'ah:
· Jumu'ah is a significant day in Islam, known as "Yawmul Jumu'ah" (the Day of Congregation).
· A complete chapter in the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Jumu'ah (Chapter 62), was revealed about it.
· The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday." (Sahih Muslim)
2. Obligation of Jumu'ah:
· The Jumu'ah prayer is obligatory (Fard) for every sane, adult, free Muslim male.
· It is a weekly worship that replaces the Zuhr (noon) prayer.
3. Conditions for Jumu'ah:
· It should be established by the Islamic government or with the permission of the ruler.
· It must be performed in a city or large town.
· It must be performed at the time of Zuhr.
· The Khutbah (sermon) is a necessary condition.
4. The Jumu'ah Prayer:
· It consists of 2 Rak'ah (units) Fard.
· Two sermons (Khutbah) are obligatory before the prayer.
· It must be performed in congregation behind an Imam.
5. Etiquettes and Recommended Acts (Sunnah):
· Performing Ghusl (ritual bath).
· Using Miswak (tooth-stick).
· Wearing clean clothes.
· Applying perfume.
· Going to the mosque early.
· Sending abundant blessings (Durood) upon the Prophet ﷺ.
· Reciting Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18 of the Quran).
6. Special Virtues:
· There is a special hour on Friday when prayers are accepted.
· Sins are forgiven for those who attend.
· Special divine mercy descends.
· The Day of Judgment will occur on a Friday.
7. Important Precautions:
· Talking during the Khutbah is prohibited.
· One can pray voluntary prayers until the Imam arrives.
· There is a severe warning for abandoning Jumu'ah without a valid excuse.
