The authorized dealership has quoted Rs. 7.17 million to repair Hameed’s uninsured Jaecoo J7 PHEV. The estimate includes Rs. 5.83 million for parts alone, such as a Rs. 986,000 airbag seat and a Rs. 299,000 bonnet, along with labor and taxes.
The total repair cost equals nearly 70% of the vehicle’s original price of Rs. 10.5 million. This has raised concerns among owners about the importance of insurance, which typically costs around Rs. 100,000 per year for such vehicles.
While some users argue that high spare-part costs are common for premium SUVs and reflect advanced safety systems like airbags, the case has highlighted the rising cost of ownership in Pakistan’s growing plug-in hybrid market.
