Inspired by the ancient and perilous activity of smuggling between Alcoutim 🇵🇹 and Sanlúcar de Guadiana 🇪🇸, the festival pays tribute to the men and women who, in the 1930s and 1940s, crossed the River Guadiana at night to ensure the survival of their families.

Today, this story has become a unique celebration of friendship and unity between two peoples. The event’s main symbol is the incredible temporary floating bridge that connects Portugal and Spain on foot, offering an unforgettable experience over the waters of the Guadiana.
