When someone tells me they are considering moving to Portugal, the first question that comes to my mind is not: “What kind of property are you looking for?”
It is: “What kind of life do you want to have in Portugal?”
Because a property can look perfect on paper and still be completely wrong for the person living in it.
A young couple with children may need good schools, activities and everyday services nearby. An older couple may value access to healthcare, local amenities and accessibility. Someone working remotely may be looking for good connections, tranquillity and quality of life. And someone looking for a second home may have completely different priorities: location, security, proximity to the coast or ease of access.
That is why, when we talk about real estate for people coming from abroad, we shouldn't start only with the region or the type of property. We should start with the person and the life they want to build.
Finding a property is important. Finding the right place to live is about so much more than that.
