🇸🇪 Från Nederländerna till drömlivet i Svartträsk 👋
Nu har familjen Wams från Nederländerna äntligen kommit fram till sitt nya hem i Svartträsk utanför Överkalix.
Över en välkomstfika på kommunhuset berättar Kyra att familjen börjat landa efter flytten och redan känner att de har hittat rätt. I Svartträsk bor de på en gård med naturen runt knuten och närhet till vatten, precis den livsstil de längtat efter.
Barnen har snabbt kommit in i sin nya vardag. Pojkarna har redan fått kompisar i skolan, och lillasyster Aimée, som följde med mamma på fikan, ser fram emot att snart börja på förskolan. Då får även Kyra möjlighet att starta sina studier på SFI och fortsätta bygga sitt nya liv i Sverige.
Flytten till Överkalix var redan verklighet när nästa positiva överraskning kom. Efter att vi delat familjens berättelse på Move to Överkalixs Facebooksida fick Kyras man, Gert, ett samtal från Isolamin Sweden AB. Bara någon dag senare hade han börjat sitt nya arbete, något som gjorde starten i den nya hemorten ännu bättre.
När svenskan kommit lite längre planerar Kyra att söka arbete inom vården. I Nederländerna har hon arbetat med personer med olika funktionsvariationer och hoppas kunna använda sina erfarenheter även här i framtiden. Så behöver din verksamhet medarbetare i framtiden kan det vara värt att hålla utkik efter Kyra 😉
Det som gjort störst intryck på familjen är gemenskapen. De har fått vänner, stöd från andra inflyttade och fantastiska grannar som lovat att hjälpa till om det behövs, till och med när det gäller snöplogningen när vintern kommer finns det hjälpande händer.
Familjen njuter av sitt nya liv i Överkalix. Tempot är lugnare, barnen är ute och leker betydligt mer än tidigare och hela familjen känner sig hemma i byn. Snart får de dessutom besök av Kyras föräldrar och syster som aldrig tidigare varit så långt norrut i Sverige. Vi får hoppas att de blir lika förälskade i platsen som resten av familjen Wams har blivit.
Kyra lyfter, precis som många andra inflyttare, det varma mottagandet från lokalbefolkningen. Vänligheten, hjälpsamheten och känslan av gemenskap har gjort att familjen snabbt hittat sin egen lilla oas i Svartträsk.

🇬🇧 From the Netherlands to their dream life in Svartträsk 👋
The Wams family from the Netherlands have finally arrived at their new home in Svartträsk, just outside Överkalix.
Over a welcome coffee at the municipal office, Kyra tells us that the family is beginning to settle in after the move and already feels that they have found the right place. In Svartträsk, they live on a small farm surrounded by nature and close to the water, exactly the kind of lifestyle they had been longing for.
The children have quickly settled into their new everyday life. The boys have already made friends at school, and their little sister Aimée, who joined her mum for the welcome coffee, is looking forward to starting preschool soon. This will also give Kyra the opportunity to begin studying Swedish at SFI and continue building her new life in Sweden.
The move to Överkalix was already a reality when another positive surprise came their way. After we shared the family’s story on the Move to Överkalix page, Kyra’s husband, Gert, received a call from Isolamin Sweden AB. Just a few days later, he had started his new job, making the family’s start in their new home even better.
Once her Swedish has improved, Kyra plans to look for work in healthcare. In the Netherlands, she worked with people with different disabilities and hopes to use her experience here in the future as well. So, if your organisation might be looking for new employees in the future, Kyra could definitely be someone to keep an eye out for 😉
What has made the biggest impression on the family is the strong sense of community. They have made friends, received support from other newcomers and met fantastic neighbours who have promised to lend a hand whenever needed. Even when winter arrives and the snow needs clearing, there are helping hands nearby.
The family is enjoying their new life in Överkalix. The pace of life is slower, the children spend much more time playing outdoors than they did before, and the whole family feels at home in the village. Soon, Kyra’s parents and sister will also be coming to visit. They have never travelled this far north in Sweden before, so we hope they fall just as much in love with the place as the Wams family has.
Like many other newcomers, Kyra highlights the warm welcome they have received from the local community. The kindness, helpfulness and strong sense of community have helped the family quickly find their own little oasis in Svartträsk.
