Despite the cooling measures, the sentiment of buyers has not swayed majorly; with many not looking to defer their property purchases. Perhaps because many of us know that in our land scarce nation, where construction/material/labor costs continue climbing, paired with an increasing market of buyers who are keen and able to afford, property prices will very likely continue to keep trending upwards.

While there are regional/ global events that will every few years rock property prices, we could either sit back, hold on to our funds and wait, OR invest into the upward trending property market. Of course, not all property purchases have historically gained profit by attractive margins, some have even remained stagnant or worse,

So the question is, which property would give the best outlook as an investment?

Many HDB Owners have thought about upgrading to a Condominium..

Blockbuster launches? Boutique condominiums? CCR? RCR? OCR? Location? Distance to places that matter to you? Capital appreciation potential? Rental potential? Wind and Sun? View?

There are many options to choose from and even more considerations to think about. But one thing remains; private property prices have shown to steadily appreciate over time; in many cases appreciating much more than HDB units. Land continues to be a scarce resource in Singapore; and this natural characteristic keeps prices in an upward trajectory in a country that never stops growing, developing and evolving.

As such, property upgrading is an opportunity. But not all Condominiums may be worth your hard-earned savings!

If you have seen the recent ABSD revision, it has risen across categories. However, compared to 60% ABSD for foreigners, SG Citizens and PRs are hit significantly less; and these two categories continue to hold a comparative advantage to accessing local properties.
