Lately, I've been seeing more and more divorce cases. It's a chapter in life that I sincerely pray you never have to go through.
When a marriage ends, it's often the children who carry the deepest emotional burden. I also think about the devoted mothers who have spent years putting their families first, raising children, managing the home, and sometimes caring for a child with special needs. Many have sacrificed their own careers, leaving them with little or no CPF savings of their own.
Then comes the weight of the divorce itself: legal fees, uncertainty about the future, finding a new place to live, and learning to start over. All of this happens while the cost of living continues to rise, food prices keep increasing, and every dollar seems to stretch a little less than before.
My heart truly goes out to anyone walking this path.
I don't want to tell you to "be strong," because the truth is, you already have been. Every day you've shown up for your children, made difficult decisions, and carried responsibilities that many people will never fully understand. That takes a strength far greater than words can describe.
If there's one thing I hope you remember, it's this: this chapter does not define the rest of your story. Healing takes time, but hope is never out of reach. There are people who genuinely care, who are willing to listen, and who want to help you find clarity and a way forward.
You don't have to have all the answers today. Just take the next step, one day at a time. Better days may not come overnight, but they can come. And when they do, you'll look back and realize that even in your hardest season, you never stopped moving forward.
May you find peace where there is worry, strength where there is exhaustion, and hope where today feels uncertain. May your children continue to see your love, your courage, and your unwavering heart. And may this difficult chapter become the beginning of a brighter one.
