Under Singapore Law, if more than one person purchases a property, it is crucial to understand whether the property is purchased under Joint Tenancy or Tenancy-in-common. The type of property ownership would affect who is entitled to the property when one of the owner passes away.

For the first time in more than five years, Americans have surpassed the Chinese as the largest group of purchasers of local residential properties.

This is in part due to the fact that Americans do not have to pay Addtional Buyer Stamp Duties (ABSD), which is typically applicable to all non-Singaporeans, when they purchase residential properties.

In fact, residents/PR of *five* countries do not have to pay ABSD due to free-trade agreements with Singapore.

Very thankful to @99.co for the opportunity to spend the evening representing speaking to a large group of diverse LGBTQ+ community youths sharing experiences & advices on rental & the subsequent journey into singles & joint singles homeownership in Singapore.

It was enriching for me to say the least as I hear about many young peoples’ concerns & questions & together as a panel we sought to help address them & also share some insights & experiences.

I look forward to more opportunities where we as a collective in Haus of Pride can continue to help our many diverse community people with their property concerns & journeys.
