New guidelines to encourage prudent private home buying.

“Showsuite Consultancy's Mr Singh believes the new rules will not likely be a major dampener for the new homes market, especially in the mass-market segment.”

“He pointed to last weekend's launch of Penrose condominium by Hong Leong Holdings. Of its 566 units, 341 were sold as at Sunday.”

“Hong Leong practised a strict 'no re-issue' policy. This means all the buyers would be required to exercise their options within three weeks of being served the sale and purchase agreements," he said.”

The Penrose no reissue success points to fact that as long as the fundamentals & price are right, there will always be buyers.

In fact, most developers tend to cater higher proportion of 1-2 bedrooms unit mix in a development. These are generally consumed by investors and first time home buyers. This segment will recover fast to the news as the buyers will soon realise the announced policy doesn’t affect them at all & is good news.

These are businesses created to run the finances (and sometimes the lives) of the world’s super rich, providing a level of discretion and personalized services beyond those offered by private banks.

And why are family offices busy scooping up deals during this pandemic whilst the average man on the streets worry about jobs and recession?

And just for information, family offices on the island increased fivefold between 2017 and 2019. The most recent one, Sunrise Capital was set up in July this year by none other than Hotpot Queen Shu Ping, the co-founder of Haidilao by billionaire Zhang Yong.
