Slow Life Chiang Mai

Slow Life Chiang Mai Chiang Mai teaches us to slow down —
not to stop moving,
but to let our hearts catch up with life.

Sip your coffee slowly, watch the mountains, feel the breeze,
and you’ll realize that sometimes,
happiness is simply being present.

Chiang Mai finalized! Electric tram line to run on roads with 5 stations.
Expected to be operational in 2032.

Today, March 24, 2026, the Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) finalized the feasibility study and design results for the Chiang Mai Mass Transit System Project, Red Line, Mae Hia Saman Samakkee Intersection - Royal Ratchaphruek Park, at Autuus Studio (The Arch Hall), Nong Khwai Subdistrict, Hang D**g District, Chiang Mai Province.

The study results designed the Chiang Mai Mass Transit System, Red Line, Mae Hia Saman Samakkee Intersection – Royal Ratchaphruek Park, as an electric tram system. The system will run along a track on the road, starting at the Mae Hia Saman Samakkee Intersection, approximately 2.3 kilometers along Highway 108, then turning right at the Royal Ratchaphruek Intersection, running along Rural Highway No. CM.3028,
and crossing Highway No. 121 at the Ratchaphruek Intersection, ending at the Royal Ratchaphruek Park, at the Elephant Roundabout.
The project spans approximately 5 kilometers and includes 5 passenger stations: Ban Don Pin Station (near Don Pin Soi 3), Phuech Suan Lok Intersection Station (on Rural Highway No. CM.3028 near Phuech Suan Lok Intersection), Ban Ua Athon Station (near the Baan Ua Athon housing project), Ratchaphruek Intersection Station (on Rural Highway No. CM.3028 near Ratchaphruek Intersection), and Ratchaphruek Royal Park Station (at the elephant roundabout on Ratchaphruek Road). There are also two park-and-ride facilities: one at Phuech Suan Lok Intersection (inbound side) and another at Ratchaphruek Intersection.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has been assigned by the Committee on Land Traffic System Management (CLTSM) to implement the Chiang Mai Mass Transit System project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This includes conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). According to the plan, the selection of the PPP will begin in 2027, construction will commence in 2028-2031, and the system will open for service in 2032. Upon completion, the project will provide an efficient, convenient, fast, and safe transportation option for residents and tourists in Chiang Mai. This can also reduce the overall use of cars on the roads, thus helping to reduce air pollution caused by vehicle fuel consumption.
