FYI : Chiang Mai Governor Says Ping River Water Level Not Yet Concerning; Several National Parks Temporarily Closed, Public Urged to Avoid Risk Areas
May 26, 2025 — Mr. Nirat Phongsitthithaworn, the Governor of Chiang Mai Province, revealed that recent rainfall over the past week has caused forest runoff in upstream areas. As a result, several national parks, especially Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and areas in Samoeng, Mae Rim, and Mae Taeng districts, have been temporarily closed to prevent risks from flash floods. Authorities will assess the situation and consider reopening the parks when conditions are deemed safe.
The runoff has affected some communities, such as in Mae Taeng District where a landslide temporarily blocked mountain roads, disrupting local transportation. Authorities have since cleared the area and restored normal traffic flow. In Mae Wang and San Pa Tong districts, accumulated runoff caused the river to overflow in low-lying areas, but water levels are now beginning to recede. Cleaning operations are underway to restore the affected areas.
In Mueang District, officials have emphasized the importance of regularly clearing drains and grates to ensure rainwater can quickly flow into drainage systems and tributaries. Since the water level in drainage systems and the Ping River remains low, it is crucial to prevent surface flooding by allowing rainwater to drain efficiently. Daily maintenance is necessary because each rainfall can bring debris, leaves, and branches that clog drainage channels. Authorities have instructed all parties to regularly inspect and remove such obstructions to prepare for further rainfall.
The governor also urged residents in upstream areas to remain vigilant and avoid entering restricted zones due to potential danger to life and property. Current rainfall tends to occur in short, heavy bursts rather than continuous downpours, causing water to rise and recede quickly. As for the Ping River, the water level is still not high, and the situation is under control. Authorities are managing the water flow by operating sluice gates to accelerate drainage, helping to maintain safe river levels.

ผู้ว่าฯ เชียงใหม่ เผยระดับน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงขณะนี้ยังไม่น่าห่วง ขณะนี้อุทยานหลายแห่งปิดการให้บริการ เตือนประชาชนงดเข้าพื้นที่เสี่ยง
วันนี้ (26 พ.ค. 68) นายนิรัตน์ พงษ์สิทธิถาวร ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เปิดเผยว่า ในช่วงสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาจังหวัดเชียงใหม่มีฝนตกสะสมในพื้นที่ จึงทำให้มีน้ำป่าไหลหลากในช่วงต้นน้ำ ทางอุทยานต่างๆ ที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ต้นน้ำ โดยเฉพาะอุทยานแห่งชาติดอยสุเทพ-ปุย รวมถึงในโซนอำเภอสะเมิง แม่ริม และแม่แตง จึงต้องปิดให้บริการอุทยานไว้เบื้องต้นก่อน เพื่อป้องกันความเสี่ยงต่ออันตรายจากน้ำป่า หากน้ำลดลงแล้วจึงจะประเมินสถานการณ์และพิจารณาเปิดทำการตามช่วงเวลาที่เหมาะสมอีกครั้ง
โดยน้ำที่ไหลลงมาได้ส่งผลกระทบต่อพี่น้องประชาชนในบางส่วน เช่น ที่อำเภอแม่แตงมีดินสไลด์ปิดขวางเส้นทางจราจรบนดอย ทำให้ชาวบ้านสัญจรไม่ได้ชั่วคราว แต่ก็ได้ให้เจ้าหน้าที่เข้าไปเคลียร์พื้นที่จนกลับมาใช้เส้นทางสัญจรได้ตามปกติแล้ว ส่วนในพื้นที่อำเภอแม่วางและอำเภอสันป่าตองก็มีมวลน้ำไหลมารวมกัน ทำให้มีน้ำเอ่อล้นตลิ่งในเขตพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำ ล่าสุดระดับน้ำได้เริ่มลดลงแล้ว และเตรียมเข้าสู่กระบวนการฉีดล้างทำความสะอาดให้กลับมาอยู่ในสภาพเดิม สำหรับในเขตอำเภอเมืองได้เน้นย้ำให้ทำความสะอาดท่อระบายน้ำและฝาตะแกรง เพื่อให้น้ำฝนที่ตกมาบนพื้นผิวจราจรไหลลงท่อระบายน้ำและลำน้ำสาขาต่างๆ ให้ได้โดยเร็วที่สุด เพราะน้ำในท่อและระดับน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงไม่ได้สูง ดังนั้นจึงต้องทำให้น้ำที่ตกค้างอยู่บนผิวจราจรไหลลงแม่น้ำให้เร็วที่สุด ต้องทำแบบนี้ทุกวัน เพราะเมื่อมีฝนตกลงมาในแต่ละครั้ง ก็จะพัดพาเอาเศษขยะหรือเศษใบไม้กิ่งไม้มาอุดตามช่องทางระบายน้ำ จึงได้เน้นย้ำให้ทุกฝ่ายหมั่นตรวจสอบและกำจัดเศษสวะเหล่านี้ออกจากช่องทางระบายน้ำอยู่เป็นประจำ เพื่อรองรับปริมาณน้ำฝนที่จะตกเพิ่มใหม่
ทั้งนี้ จึงขอฝากพี่น้องประชาชนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตพื้นที่ต้นน้ำให้เฝ้าระวังและไม่เข้าไปยังพื้นที่ห้ามเข้า เพราะอาจเสี่ยงเกิดอันตรายต่อชีวิตและทรัพย์สิน โดยฝนที่ตกในช่วงนี้อาจจะตกหนักเป็นช่วงแล้วสลับกับหยุดตก ไม่ได้เป็นการตกต่อเนื่องตลอดทั้งวัน น้ำอาจจะมาเร็วแต่ก็จะลดลงเร็วเช่นกัน ส่วนน้ำในแม่น้ำปิงขณะนี้ยังไม่สูงมาก ยังมั่นใจว่าไม่น่าห่วง ซึ่งจะใช้วิธีบริหารจัดการเปิด-ปิดบานประตูระบายน้ำต่างๆ เพื่อเร่งระบายน้ำออกไปให้ได้โดยเร็ว จึงทำให้ระดับน้ำปิงไม่ได้สูงจนเกินไป
