The dollar is getting cheaper against a basket of world currencies: what will the exchange rate be in the coming months
The dollar exchange rate against a basket of major currencies fell to a three-week low on Thursday, July 28. This took place in the field of raising the rate of the US Fed by 0.75 pp. to 2.25−2.50% and the comments that followed.
Reuters writes about it.
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell at his press conference on Wednesday spoke about containing inflation quite strongly, but refused to forecast the size of the next rate hike and noted that "at some point" it would be appropriate to slow down.
"There are now rumors that the dollar may have peaked if the pace of strengthening slows in September after back-to-back moves of 75 basis points in June and July," said Kenneth Brooks, currency strategist at Societe Generale in London.
