The US stock market ended trading on a positive note. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 indicators closed at their highest levels in almost seven weeks.

Traders evaluated the new batch of corporate reporting and fresh statistical data.

The American economy shrank by 0.9% in the second quarter at an annual rate, preliminary data from the US Commerce Department showed. Analysts polled by Trading Economics expected growth of 0.5%, the Bloomberg consensus forecast provided for a rise of 0.4%

Most of the European equity markets closed higher
Most European equity indices ended up on Thursday as fears of a major tightening of monetary policy by the Federal Reserve eased after US GDP decline data in the second quarter.
The US economy shrank 0.9% in the second quarter at an annual rate, according to preliminary data from the Commerce Department released Thursday. Analysts have forecast an average growth of 0.4-0.5%. US GDP declined for the second consecutive quarter, which is the technical definition of a recession. In the first quarter, US GDP fell by 1.6%
