In Ukraine, the share of problem loans decreased. In June, this figure was 37.2%. A significant decrease was demonstrated by Privatbank -8.0 percentage points. This is stated in the report on the activities of the Financial Stability Board of the National Bank.
Other state-owned banks have a slightly lower rate of -6.3 in. n. The main tool for portfolio recovery was the write-off of previously reserved non-performing loans.
How much was written off
For 12 months as of July 1, 2021, UAH 37.1 billion was written off for hryvnia loans and $ 2.7 billion in foreign currency loans, from the beginning of 2020 - UAH 37.6 billion and $ 3.7 billion, respectively.
What is a problem loan
These are dubious and bad loans. According to the IMF recommendations, loans are considered invalid if the payment of the principal amount and interest on them is overdue: 1) for three months (90 days) or more; 2) for less than 90 days, but in accordance with national supervision standards, the servicing of such a loan is considered "weak" or "unsatisfactory".How to settle debt
The NBU also said that banks continue to settle debt by restructuring it.
At the beginning of 2021, 41 restructurings were carried out in the amount of UAH 65.2 billion, which is equivalent to 16% of non-performing loans.
