So, you want to be a realtor? There are no shortcuts to success in any business endeavor, including real estate. Wake up. Do the work. Nurture the relationships. Don’t take loyalty for granted. People who aren’t in this industry don’t understand this is literally your livelihood. If you don’t follow-up, they WILL call on whoever happens to be in front of them at the time they decide to buy or sell, regardless of your relationship or time spent with them. Make sure you are the one in front of them, when that time comes, by doing the work and nurturing relationships CONSISTENTLY even when they’re not quite ready to be serious about the expertise you have to offer. ❤️ And don’t wear your feelings on your sleeve. They aren’t thinking about you. They’re thinking about themselves - not in a selfish way. In an eager excited way that you definitely don’t want to miss because you were sleeping on the job and assuming they’d call you. “Don’t call me. I’ll call you.” That’s my new hard-headed-but-finally-learned philosophy. ❤️ Let’s GO 2025 Real Estate Market! I’m coming to take my unfair SHARE!!

I’m posting this because I recently learned from a friend that this isn’t common knowledge. So pass this on to your friends, as it could save them an unnecessary penalty.

Here’s the City Ordinance that outlines the requirement in Abilene. It’s pretty simple. Just register with the city and they’ll bill you a small annual fee to keep your alarm system active.
