Bridgewater residents: have stuff to give away? Instead of leaving items in the common area foyers (which is unsightly, and often has to be cleaned up and thrown away by the maintenance staff, a costly expense), try posting your free or for-sale items on the Bridgewater page! There are also some great local groups on Facebook, such as Buy Nothing Albany, where you can post pictures of what you’d like to give away. Thanks for keeping Bridgewater tidy!

Thanks to Bridgewater families for coming out to the Halloween party today. A fun time was had by all!

PIERCE STREET PAVING FROM THE CITY OF ALBANY

City of Albany-Pierce St Pavement Rehabilitation and Phase I Bikeway

CLARIFICATION OF WORK BEING DONE

BIKE LANE WILL STILL BE ON EAST SIDE OF PIERCE STREET

The concrete you see being installed on the east side of Pierce Street is not the new bike path. This concrete is called pervious concrete. It is designed to act as a drainage system. Rain water will drain off Pierce Street and pe*****te thru this concrete into a sub drainage system below the concrete.

The new bike path has not been started yet. It will be in the west side of the street as is the existing bike path. The existing bike path will be removed in full, a new concrete path will be installed with new lighting above the path.

Have you have noticed the new asphalt is being installed 2 inches below the new pervious concrete? This is by design for when the west side of the street is complete a final 2” layer of asphalt will be applied over the entire street. This is why the stripping has not been done yet, the current layer of asphalt is not the finish layer.

Current rain has delayed progress and made driving out of your driveways even more stressful. Thank you for your understanding and patience and please drive safely. Weather for next week is reported to be sunny and dry.

TRAFFIC DELAYS ON FRIDAY 9/30
PIERCE STREET GOING SOUTH
SLURRY SEAL TOMORROW 9/30 ON PIERCE STREET SOUTH OF GATEVIEW
Slurry seal is an asphalt sealer applied to top of existing paving. Once it is applied it will take approximately 3 hours to dry before traffic is allowed on the surface.
Contractor will be applying this slurry sealer to top of existing paving on Pierce Street Pierce Street from 600 block south to Buchanan.
The schedule is to start at 8:00 am on the west half of this south portion of Pierce Street. When this segment is dry they will move to the east half. The work is scheduled to complete by 2:00 pm on same day. This would result in normal traffic conditions at 5:00 pm.
During application of the slurry the two lane traffic will be routed to the one side. The Contractor will have flagmen to direct traffic. There will be delays as traffic in both directions will have to use the same lane.
If at all possible residents might choose to use an alternate route Friday and not travel south on Pierce Street.
