What would you do if a fire broke out during a tour of a senior community?

Last week, I experienced something I never expected.

During a scheduled tour of a senior community, a fire emergency required the building to be evacuated. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness in communities that care for older adults.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and leadership for their commitment to resident safety, and to our local emergency responders for their rapid response and coordinated efforts.

As someone who is passionate about serving older adults, this event reinforced that a senior community isn't just about beautiful buildings and amenities—it's also about the people, the systems, and the preparedness that help keep residents safe when the unexpected happens.

I'm grateful everyone was safe.
