You said WHAT?? While your agent opens the lockbox you take a good look around and comment on the creepy gnomes and well maintained, but horrible landscaping choices. Luckily, you have excellent taste and would turn that mess into something beautiful! …Oops! The seller loves those gnomes and is quite proud of the landscaping that he put great time and effort into.
Inside the home you see a picture on the mantle. You chuckle and call out, “Hey, you HAVE to see this photo! Looks like life chewed up this old guy and spit him out – twice!” …Oops! It’s the seller’s sweet Aunt Matilda, who was only 28 when the picture was taken.
More comments are made during the home tour, mostly on superficial things like furniture and décor, and then you discuss putting an offer on the home. The aesthetics may not be to your liking, but the house itself is perfect and you REALLY want it! All the while, no one notices that the seller has a doorbell camera and several listening devices inside the home. Hmm, how do you think this is going to work out?
