All proceeds benefit Homeward Bound of Western North Carolina and our work to prevent and end homelessness in our community.

Join us for a tour of our facilities and get a closer look at how we help people move from homelessness into housing and stability. Our next tour is on October 15. Choose from three different tour options:

Welcome Home Tour - Visit our Donation Center and see how donated household items help furnish homes for people moving out of homelessness.

Hope Leads Home Tour - Tour Compass Point Village, Buncombe County’s largest permanent supportive housing community, and visit the AHOPE Day Center in downtown Asheville.

Tour All Three Centers - See Welcome Home, Compass Point Village, and AHOPE in one morning.

Tours are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month and are limited to 5 people per tour. Private tours at other dates and times can also be requested.

Earlier this month, our 2026 Golden Doors Gala brought together an incredible community of supporters. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us, donated, sponsored, bid in the auction, and helped make the event such a success. By the end of the evening, we had raised over $283,000 to support Homeward Bound's mission! These funds will help secure permanent housing for our neighbors who need it.

These generous donations will go to our Welcome Home Donation Center, where they’ll be distributed to our housed clients to help furnish their new homes.

After 11 years of helping women veterans across Western North Carolina find housing stability, Aura Home Women Vets is closing its doors. But its impact will continue.

Aura Home’s Board of Directors has chosen to transfer the organization’s remaining assets to Homeward Bound of WNC, where those resources will support continued efforts to prevent and end homelessness in our community.

Since its founding, Aura Home has served women veterans across nine Western North Carolina counties and helped 607 women veterans experiencing housing instability. Its work focused heavily on prevention, helping people remain safely and stably housed through assistance with rent, utilities, mortgages, vehicle repairs, home repairs and other critical needs.

As part of the transition, Homeward Bound received an $80,000 gift from Aura Home and its six-passenger van, with proceeds from the eventual sale of Aura Home’s Hendersonville property still to come.

We are deeply grateful to Aura Home Women Vets for the years of service it provided to our community and for entrusting Homeward Bound with the resources to carry that work forward.

Thank you, Aura Home, for 11 years of making a difference for women veterans in Western North Carolina. Your legacy lives on.

Meet a Hero Sponsor of our Golden Doors Gala: AVL Technologies

Our partnership with AVL Technologies goes far beyond a sponsorship. Throughout 2026, their employees have donated supplies, resources, and their time, providing hands-on support for our work to prevent and end homelessness in WNC.

AVL employees have volunteered at AHOPE throughout the year, supporting our neighbors and even providing breakfast. They have also organized multiple donation drives to collect much-needed supplies for our programs, with large donations delivered to the WHDC in March and July.

In June, AVL donated 40 boxes of green tea and a pallet of Starbucks coffee to AHOPE, helping provide everyday essentials to the people we serve.
And now, AVL Technologies is putting that commitment into action in another way: by becoming a Hero Sponsor of our upcoming Golden Doors Gala, helping make our first evening Gala possible.

Last Tuesday, Homeward Bound took part in a cleanup along Tunnel Road, organized by the Community Relations Committee of Asheville-Buncombe's Continuum of Care.

This effort brought together volunteers, organizations, and unhoused neighbors to work side-by-side cleaning up this important area in our community. By the end of the morning, we collected enough trash to fill multiple pickup trucks!

This town is home to all of us, and it was inspiring to see so many different people brought together to care for it. Big shout out to the Community Relations Committee for putting all of this together!
