Something fun to look forward to!
Ice skating comes to Town of Sharpsburg
The Sharpsburg Downtown Development Authority will host Winterfest, featuring a “glice" skating rink, Dec. 22-23 at Staley Park Pavilion
Glice is a Swiss-engineered synthetic ice that looks and feels like the real thing.
April Yarbrough of the DDA said she hopes the event will continue to grow and that winter skating will become synonymous with the town of Sharpsburg.
“Even if it’s hot outside, we’ll still be in good shape,” Yarbrough said. “Eventually, we’d like the opportunity to host skating all month during December.”
Available slots are from 9 a.m. to 4:30, with each session lasting 30 minutes. The first two slots on each day are reserved for parents with young children.
“We wanted to ensure the youngest skaters had the opportunity to learn without a lot of older, more experienced skaters zooming around,” Yarbrough said.
The event is a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the growth and revitalization of old town Sharpsburg.
