You can't spend an hour with me these days without hearing about tennis.
It was my best sport growing up, but then once I got to college, I stopped playing. I played a little bit after college but never consistently.
Well.. Almost exactly a year ago, I got back into the sport, and it has been life changing for me.
1. Community - I have an awesome group of new friends in our neighborhood. Between my teams, Sarah's teams, and the kids' schools, we have really blown up our circle of friends and couldn't be happier about it.
2. Balance - When you've got small children and you're trying to grow a business after, it's easy to kind of lose yourself. Tennis has given me the balance I've been needing so badly. Shout out to my wife for recognizing this and giving me the time (she gets her tennis time too, don't y'all worry).
3. Health - So maybe I constantly have little aches and pains, but I'm in better shape and consistently at a lower weight than I've seen in a long time. My desire to get better at tennis has led to other good habits, I'm drinking less, eating better, and recently started adding additional exercise with the sole focus being tennis.
Getting back into a sport in your 40s is an interesting journey. If you've been thinking about adding a sport or a hobby of any kind, you 100% should.
