We are in the final stretch on this custom build. At the first meeting with these owners as they described what they were looking for my husband thought seeing our home might help them narrow down a few of there ideas. They feel in love with the simple farm house exterior, tall doors, and large kitchen island. We adjusted the floor plan to meet their needs and I do hope they love their simple white farm house as much as we love ours. Arther family you have been a pleasure to work with!

Backsplash doesn’t always have to be tile.

I get asked questions regularly these three questions about my backsplash in my kitchen.
1- what made you pick wood?
2- are you worried about how it will hold up?
3- how hard is it to clean?

Here are my answers after living and cooking in my home for a full year.

I wanted something that felt timeless is reason I picked the vertical tongue and groove. I had no worries. Wood is a solid product and we paint in a high quality paint with durable finish. The wood is honestly feels easier to keep clean than a tile and grout option, again due to the durable paint finish.

This home owner knew she wanted wood columns. They are so pretty and will be a definite wow factor once house is painted and they are stained. This house is a little special to me 😉 and I can’t wait to see this family make it a HOME. 🏠 💙🏡

I have loved everything about homes my whole life. I loved building houses out of legos and Lincoln logs when I was a kid, then dreaming about my future home while looking at my mom’s southern living magazines. I have worked construction my whole life in manufacturing/ distribution. Walking around on a job site this afternoon, I know building homes for families is what I am supposed to be doing. It is stressful and not always fun and games but knowing someone is going to live here and make memories between these walls makes it all worth it.
