Heavy rain season hit Metro Atlanta and it's not letting up.
Here's what most homeowners don't realize. Georgia's red clay soil doesn't drain. It absorbs water and expands, pressing against your foundation walls for weeks after the rain stops. That constant hydrostatic pressure finds every crack, every mortar joint, every weak spot in your foundation. Water doesn't need much of an opening.
If you've noticed damp basement walls, a musty smell that wasn't there before, or water showing up after storms, that's your foundation telling you something. It's not going to get better on its own and every storm makes it worse.
This photo is from a job we did in Gwinnett County. We excavated down to the footing, applied waterproof membrane, installed drainage board and a French drain system, then backfilled with gravel so water moves away from the wall instead of through it.
We do free waterproofing inspections across Metro Atlanta. We come out, walk your property, check your basement or crawl space, and tell you exactly what's going on.
